Context and Background

 

The portal is a key component of the solution Open Data Node. It provides basic services over its content to the general public, through the web interface.
 

Portal functionality

 

Portal as a Web-based user interface has the following basic tasks:
 
  • provide basic information about the Open Data activity (motivation)
  • make available all documents processed at a basic level:
    • find documents - browse on, fulltext, filtering, searching by metadata
    • view documents (and metadata) in good looking - list, detail, chart, map, timeline, graph ...
  • community and collaboration tool for all stakeholders (data providers, application providers, application users, donors, the general public, ...)
  • provide base lists and statistics - sources and their quality, contributors, trends, most desirable / most discussed documents, and the most active group. - Incentives for cooperation and collaboration
  • allow feedback on the documents and resources, including system for repairs and replenishment of metadata (ie crowd sourcing)
  • documentation of other services (eg API description for creators potential 3rd-party applications)
  • interface for system administration (and remote)

Basic features of the portal

  • anonymous and registered users
  • search for documents
    • fulltext, advanced search (based on metadata) and veneers
    • sorting
    • filtering, refinement

  • view detail and document various forms of presentation of results
    • simple list of documents with thumbnail
    • representation in the form of a table (with the possibility to export selected format spreadsheet)
    • view on map
    • display on the timeline
    • see the chart, etc.

  • Registered users can document
    • comment, to debate the document source or chosen topic
    • validated, quality control
    • suggest fixes metadata (eg, for the automatic extraction)
    • propose a new source documents
    • provide documents (upload)
 
  • interface for system administration
    • manage source documents (parameters URL, timing of collection, etc.)
    • and manage the transformation process (workflow) of documents in the system
    • manage documents and their metadata
    • administration of users and access rights, etc.
