search the list of datasets contained in public catalog (API)

Description

I want to get a reduced list of datasets based on search criteria using API of the public catalog so that I can use the retrieved data in automated way. 

Preconditions

• no preconditions are defined

How to do it:

• external code calls the CKAN API (REST service) of the public catalog
  • http://<<hostname>>/api/search/dataset/<<parameters>>
    • list of available parameters can be found here (dataset parameters section): http://docs.ckan.org/en/latest/api/legacy-api.html#search-resources
    • CKAN API returns list of all dataset names satisfying the search criteria in JSON representation and the number of datasets in result (count)
